Instructions
You should expect your new denture/partial to take some time to adjust to. Please wear your new denture/partial daily so your tissue can adapt. It is normal to have some sensitivity as your tissue is adjusting. If your tissue becomes too sensitive, please notify our office, as it is normal for our office to need to make some adjustments to your denture/partial. When you initially start eating with your new denture/partial, you should take small bites of food. It is easier to start with non-sticky food. Once your tissue has adapted, eating will become much easier. Once you finish eating, you should rinse your denture/partial to remove any food debris. When you first begin speaking with your new denture/partial, you may notice a lisp or slurring words. This is normal and will go away as you adjust to the denture/partial. You should not wear your denture/partial overnight; it should be removed and stored in the container to avoid dropping it or animals from chewing on it and damaging it. If you have any Problems with your denture/partial, please notify our office.
Home Care
We highly encourage you to clean your denture/partial daily. Proper care is very important to maintain and extend the life of your denture/partial. You should brush-clean daily. It is important to know that you should NOT use toothpaste, as it is too abrasive. You need a mild cleanser; you can buy a specific denture/partial solution or use Dawn dish soap and water. Some dentures are meant to be stored in water or solution overnight, while others are designed to be stored dry. Please ask us if you are unsure if you should soak your denture overnight.
